A Word on WordPress

Well, a month or two ago I thought that it was time to reconsider my choice of blog software. I really did not want to use a web blog-hosting-service, and after a bit of mild research, came up with WordPress as a suitable starting point. My review of the product was not thorough (in some senses, it did not need to as it is free), and I generally think that all programs have their faults and foibles that one has to get used to. And at least I did not have a massive amount of stuff to transfer to the new system.

Nevertheless, the transition from CityDesk has not been that easy. Setting up WordPress on the site was ok, but transferring the web pages is proving to be a bit of a pain. It does not help that I am not very familiar with WP yet, and allowed myself to do some really terrible things in CityDesk (like use Bold text for heading instead of my preferred heading tags etc.)

Nevermind… transition and change is well under way – though this site is not yet visible as I write.
